When We Realized that White Lives Don’t Matter

He was only five years old and enjoyed nothing better than riding his bike. Little Cannon Hinnant lived in Wilson, North Carolina, a town in Wilson County in the east central part of the state.

On August 9, 2020, around 5:30 in the afternoon, a black man named Darius Sessoms walked up to the little boy, put a handgun up to his head, and shot him execution-style, killing him. The murder was witnessed by a neighbor and little Cannon’s two sisters, ages 7 and 8. Cannon’s distraught father ran out to cradle his dying little boy in his arms. The child was dead by the time he reached the hospital.

Sessoms fled the scene and was later found and arrested.  He was charged with murder, but not a hate crime.

Local media in Wilson questioned why?  Why did this happen. What possible motive could Sessoms have? He must be mentally ill. Cannon’s own family hoped that this would bring attention to “violence against children.”  Yet nobody mentioned the elephant in the room. While everyone questioned why anyone could commit such a heinous, monstrous act, few people even formed the words in their mouths; this was a racist murder of a white child by a black man.

As if such a horrendous racist murder could not repeat itself in a lifetime, four-year old white Rowan Sweeney was murdered by a black male named Kimonie Bryant in Struthers, Ohio on September 21, 2020.

We get tired of asking; “what if the races had been reversed?”  It has been asked a thousand times in the past decade. The murders and assaults on white people have run into the tens of thousands and many others have been just as unprovoked and without explanation and often captured on security or surveillance cameras.  But, these assaults and killings are not without explanation. There is an explanation and nobody wants to say it and the media will never say it.

These assaults and murders are racist; racial to the core.

The White Supremacist Myth

While those on the left bemoan “white supremacists”  or the KKK or the current president or neo-Nazi’s, there is little or no evidence that any of these groups, real or imagined, have engaged in the wholesale killing or assaults on people of color. While this was a practice with the Democratic Party-formed KKK back in the Reconstruction period in American history, the bad behavior of white people in the mid-1800s means little today when an innocent 5-year old can be murdered in cold blood and many across the country would prefer to talk about activities 150 years ago or near-invisible “white supremacists” who are relegated to their basements in fear of being beaten.

National media has remained silent about the little boy’s murder. There has been no national outrage, no protests, no demands that the black DA in Wilson County charge this man with a hate crime even. The left has remained non-concerned and mostly oblivious to the crime because their primary news outlets have ascertained that it will get no coverage. They are more focused on George Floyd or Breonna Taylor or even Ahmaud Arbery.

Even a Google search of any of these black names will bring up thousands of stories from the nation’s leading news outlets, but there is almost no coverage from these same sources about little Cannon.

Looking back at recent decades paints a picture that is hard to embrace or fathom, but true.  There have been many murders of white people that bare a strong similarity to the murder of Cannon.  They happen frequently, across the country, and only get some brief local notice and a brief mention on local news or in local papers. The circumstances are always the same; a black man approaches a white person and murders them for no apparent reason.

A History of White Victims

Somehow, the racially-motivated assault on a white person means very little. We saw Reginald Denny dragged out of the cab of his truck during the L.A. riots on live TV and brutally beaten and left for dead, and then robbed while he lay there with blood gushing from his head. A helicopter photojournalist captured the entire crime and it was clear that Denny was attacked only because he was white; for no other reason.

During the 1980s, in Norfolk, Virginia, a series of beatings occurred where groups of young black males attacked whites and beat them so badly that some family members didn’t recognize them. They were left for dead. A local psychologist, interviewed on TV, said that it had been a hot summer, so the young black people were just acting out while dealing with the heat.

This kind of justification of assaults on whites, or even murders, is commonplace and allowed to be accepted as rationale and then hopefully, the incident will be forgotten and nobody will make waves.

On Jan. 7, 2007, while out on a date, two young white people; Chris Newsom and Channon Christian were carjacked, kidnapped and taken to a house in North Knoxville where four back people tortured, raped and eventually murdered them. There was no national uproar and most of the news coverage was local with no national coverage of the horrendous, racist crime.

After the 1992 decision in the Rodney King case, hundreds of blacks attacked white people in Atlanta and beat many badly; knocking many to the ground and kicking them in the head. Some suffered permanent brain injuries. The nation and the media remained more focused on the trial and barely mentioned the racial attacks, although much of it was caught on TV news footage. Try to find that video today.

In Baltimore, on St. Patrick’s Day on March 4, 2012, a 31-year old white man, who was a tourist from Virginia, was beaten, robbed, and stripped by several black assailants. The crime was captured on video. Most of the nation saw the brutal beating and robbery on TV news.  There were no protests, no calls for severe punishment for the perpetrators. There was no focus on black-on-white assaults or crimes; although they were common that year.

In St. Louis, a number of assaults happened on commuter trains or in public places where whites were beaten and robbed by roving groups of young blacks. A white family, returning home from the airport after a vacation on the city’s Metrolink, was brutally beaten by a group of young blacks.  Again, there was no national uproar, even as many of these attacks were capture on video.

Today’s Popular Narratives

Instead, to this day, we have to hear about “racial injustice” and “systemic racism” and reparations for blacks or white supremacists. For decades, we have watched blacks attack, assault and murder whites from coast to coast, and now we have experienced a black man murdering an innocent young white child and nobody in the public square points out that real racism is against whites; not by whites.

The nationwide riots and protests were based on the false “racial injustice” narrative without ever looking at the historic evidence that strongly points to the injustice that white people have suffered over and over again. How many thousands of grieving families must remain silent?

On July 5, 2020, a 24-year old white woman named Jessica Doty-Whitaker was shot and killed in downtown Indianapolis. The group of four people she was with had just encountered a larger group of young blacks and those blacks stated that “black lives matter.” Doty-Whitaker responded that “all lives matter.”  Moments later, one of the blacks shot and killed the mother of a 3-year old.

The only conclusion in the age of “black lives matter,” is that white lives don’t matter.

The evidence derived from thousands of senseless beatings, assaults and murders, often captured on video, seems to support this reality. Because whites are still the majority, it is okay to treat them as deserving victims.  Because of their skin color; they had it coming or somehow deserved what happened to them.

Again, we are left asking; if the races were reversed, what would the response be? It is a sad reciprocal question with an answer that results in no push-back and no justice. White people need to suck it up and move on.

In 2015, Kyle Rogers, a white 23-year old man, suffered a broken jaw and facial lacerations from a violent sucker-punch in the Bowery neighborhood of Manhattan. Rogers could hardly talk during a news interview because his jaw needed to be wired shut. He was assaulted by a black man who was participating in the “knock-out game,” a challenge to knock out white people with one violent punch; usually a sucker punch.

In Pittsburgh, a white male teacher was seen on a security camera video being knocked out and having his head smash into a concrete curb as a group of young black men laughed about their attack.  In November of 2013, there had been seven “knock out” attacks in New York City alone just that month.

White people were killed in the attacks in Hoboken, New Jersey; Syracuse, New York; St. Louis, Missouri and Chicago. There were over 1,000 white victims.  In the cases where the black males were caught, most were teens and none did any hard time. Nearly all are out on the street today.

CBS This Morning claimed back in 2013: “there is no real pattern as to how the attackers choose their victims.”  Again, all of the attackers were black and all of the victims were white; both male and female. This practice of marginalizing the value of whites and deflecting the obvious has allowed the media to perpetuate the black victim story-line, even when TV viewers could see what actually happened with their own eyes.

In July of 2020, an elderly white man in Chicago, doing outdoor maintenance, was punched in the face by a young black male. The attack was completely unprovoked and blind-sided the man, who had not even made eye contact with his attacker. The attack was caught on security camera. (link below)

The media and Google hide these crimes and go to great lengths to not provide pictures of the victim and perpetrator in the same story.  As was the murder of a 50-year old white man in New Orleans recently, his black attacker was not pictured in the stories about the robbery and murder. While the pictures of the victim and perpetrator were shown in the case of Cannon Hinnant, it may have only been because the victim was a child. Google searches of these inter-racial crimes will provide few results with both party’s pictures, unless the victim and killer were both white.

In a story that USA Today finally ran five days after Cannon’s murder, there is no mention of the race of the shooter and no picture.  There is no hint that this was a racist hate crime. Both CNN and the Washington Post did the exact same thing. Of course, Google puts these three sources at the top of its search results so that those searching the story will never know the racial component.

We have actually realized that white lives don’t matter a long time ago. It is something that is seldom said, mentioned in public or ever discussed in the media. It has become accepted. Even in one of the most horrendous hate crimes of the century, there is nothing said publicly and no media daring to tell the truth. It is not idle speculation, but the obvious answer to “why would he do that?” “What was his motivation?”  We know the answer, but nobody is willing to state the obvious out loud. It is as if black males are not capable of evil or that white people are never victims.

Selective Outrage

While there is no evidence yet that the officer who knelt on the neck of George Floyd did so for racist reasons, that speculation, although not yet warranted, does not hold a candle to the obvious racial hatred that is required to murder a 5-year old child in front of his little sisters. Yet, George Floyd has been idolized and treated as a saint and has been written into the history books as a pivotal figure in history.

Cannon Hinnant will disappear from any media coverage within days of his murder and will only reappear in local North Carolina news when his killer goes to trial. White lives don’t matter.

Google provides several search results when searching Cannon’s name. Although major media did not feature the story at all until after Cannon’s funeral, Google lists CNN, the Washington Post, USA Today and a publication in Virginia at the top of their search results. Not one of the stories show a picture of the killer and not one of the stories mention any racial component. The deception continues and the value of marginalized white lives can continue unabated. As long as there is a white victim in a hate crime, Google and major media will compliantly cover it up.

George Floyd was high on methamphetamine and fentanyl and was resisting arrest before he died and he was worthy of weeks of national protests, riots and billions of dollars of donations to black organizations, including donations to a Marxist organization. But, George Floyd was black and his death was, at least in part, due to a white police officer.

Many blacks have taken to social media and stated that the killing of the little boy was justified, considering the cases of Breonna Taylor or Ahmaud Arbery. Imagine that your racial hatred is so deep that you can call the murder of a 5-year old justified by anything.

Cannon’s family will get some funds through a GoFundMe account, but he was only an innocent white child on his bike and will be lost to history.
