Do Girls and Women Have No Value?
In recent Senate testimony, Joe Biden’s Secretary of Education nominee answered senators questions. When it was Sen. Rand Paul’s turn, the senator asked Miguel Cardona about his views on boys competing in girls sports. This is a fair question of someone who will lead the nation’s education system. Allowing men and boys to compete in women’s sports is demeaning to women and girls and upends any sense of competition. A man wrestling a smaller woman or running in a sprint has an advantage. For women in college who have trained all their lives, or girls in high school hoping to earn a college scholarship, the practice of letting a transsexual boy or man dominate that sport and rob the women of opportunities is sexist and unfair and creates an uneven playing field. Listening to Cardona’s response is disconcerting at the very least.
